The Animal Shelter Mystery
by Gertrude Chandler Warner

View in Library Catalog

This book was so good. The Animal shelter was going to close because the person who was there benefactor disappeared. So they had no money and so many animals to care for. The Boxcar Children helped care for the animals and help find out who the benefactor of the shelter was. They also rescued her. She was in trouble.

I was initially skeptical about this book, but it ended up being a worthy read. The stories within the story are sometimes relatable, and the food descriptions are wonderful enough to make me want to sign up for a cooking class.

The cutest little book, simple and sweet. My daughter absolutely loves it!

The Screwtape Letters

This book was an interesting and thought-provoking read. It is highly recommended not to rush through the text, but instead to process the ideas and exchanges in the letters. It was almost "refreshing" to take a moment and hear what happens on "the other side" of the consciousness of good and evil.

This abridged version of the original book was fun, but I feel the original by S. Morgenstern had all the extra details one would want after watching the movie. Still a good story and a good read. One of my favorites.
